Lungs Touches on the Dilemmas Relatable to All Human Beings! Do Not Miss Out

The world is getting hotter, there is unrest overseas and in an IKEA a man suggests to his partner that they should have a child. What happens next? Find out when you catch Lungs by Duncan MacMillan live on stage at Stage West Theatre next Thursday, July 25th!

Lungs tackle the questions of parenthood head-on. The potential parents leave IKEA nothing they went in for but come out with a full set of self-assembly dilemmas that they spend a life cycle trying to construct. What if the child grows up to solve the world’s problems? What if it becomes a mass murderer? What about its carbon footprint? They want to have a child for the right reasons, but what are the right reasons?

Lungs were written by English playwright Duncan MacMillan. Macmillan first rose to prominence through the Bruntwood Playwriting Competition at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre, winning two awards in its inaugural year for his play “Monster,” which was also nominated for a TMA Best New Play Award and a Manchester Evening News Best New Play Award. MacMillan is most noted for his plays Lungs; People, Places and Things; Every Brilliant Thing; and the stage adaptation of the George Orwell novel 1984, which he co-adapted and co-directed with Robert Icke.

Founded in 1979, Stage West has been a highly-respected regional theatre operating under an S.P.T. agreement with Actors’ Equity Association, the professional union of theatrical actors and stage managers in the United States. Stage West is a theatre for the whole community where diversity is celebrated, and shared humanity embraced.
