The Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run became a tradition in Fort Worth 17 years ago and is now becoming an annual event in Houston. While celebrating the lives saved and offering hope to those still waiting, the Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run raises awareness of the need for organ, eye and tissue donation across the state.
Every day across the country, lives are saved and families are restored through the miracle of donation and transplantation. Even so, more than 10,000 Texan men, women and children wait for their second chance at life. Hundreds of transplant recipients, donor family members, healthcare professionals, and donation advocates will gather to run for the Texans waiting for a second chance. Participants will run in memory of an organ/tissue donor, to honor a transplant recipient or as a sign of support for an individual waiting for a second chance. Transplant recipients and living donors also will participate.
